Limestone Quarry, Penderyn

Limestone is the major geological system of the southern area of the National Park and it has been quarried for many years. Most of the old quarries are now closed and planning permissions have been revoked so that they cannot be reopened and further scar the landscape. However, this quarry in Penderyn on the edge of the National Park is very much active. Thankfully it cannot be seen well from many places and you have to climb to the top of Moel Penderyn to get this view.
