February 2017 - Lanspyddid (01874 622105)

An early image from a new project I've just started; photographing the remaining phone boxes left within the Brecon Beacons National Park boundary. It's something I've been meaning to do for a while now (feeling somewhat nostalgic about phone boxes), but recent news of a number of them being scheduled for removal made it important for me to act quickly.

This particular phone box, like many I have recently visited, is already scheduled for removal unless a local community group adopts it for an alternative use. Although I drive past phone boxes all of the time I haven't been inside one for many years, and I was quite horrified to see how bad a state many of them are now in, how few of them actually work and how the fabric of the box itself is rapidly deteriorating. I hope I have time to capture them in their final days before they vanish for good.
