Faced with a very wet and windy weekend and no prospect of going out to capture local landscapes I resorted to the studio.

After photographing some shoes that my wife planned to sell on eBay I turned my attention to my own footwear. Initially treating it as a documentary exercise I did nothing to the shoes and photographed each pair in the same orientation as I found them - dusty, muddy and in most cases with the laces still done up (you can tell how I remove my shoes!).

Once I had photographed all the pairs I owned I realised that I had a nice square number leading to the arrangement seen here. Now I'm on the hunt for other people who are prepared to have all their footwear photographed as I think this would make an interesting series.

They say that you can tell a lot about a person's character from the shoes they wear...what does this collection say to you?
