The village show is a quintessentially British event and despite a grand portrayal in the BBC series The Great British Show - where all the shows were set in stately homes - it is much humbler surroundings in which most shows are held.The images here were taken at my own local village show in Ystradfellte (September 2009).Set in the heart of farming country the focus is very much on livestock, the gymkhana, locally made produce and home grown vegetables.The competition at these shows is friendly with prizes amounting to just a few pounds, the emphasis being more on community spirit than winning...spot my own entry :-)Images from this project may be ordered as prints.
