Illustrating four key landmark structures in Gateshead -  Anthony Gormley's "Angel of The North", The Sage Centre, The Tyne Bridge and The Millennium Bridge - this project was completed in December 2005.

I have a strong interest in architecture (contemporary buildings in particular) and have aimed to portray the structures in contrast to each other - the angular "Angel of the North" versus the curvaceous Sage Centre; the ultra-modern Sage Centre versus the historic Tyne Bridge.

Each structure has it's own distinctive shape, form, colour and texture  which have been captured here using shadows, reflections, different lighting conditions and unusual angles.

I have used black & white images where the intention has been to focus on the shapes and textures, whereas colour images have been reserved for those images where it is an essential part of the composition.

The complete collection of images produced as part of this project can be viewed on Alamy HERE.
